2011 Candle Lighting Ceremony

South Australia

On Saturday 15th October Adelaide held their Candle Lighting Ceremony at the beautiful venue of St Cuthberts church.

It was a time when relative strangers came together for the same reason - to honour their precious babies and to support each other.

Alecia Mader spoke about the Importance of Pregnancy and Infant Loss
awareness telling us how far we have come with this, but sadly pointing out how much more we have to do with creating awareness.

Parents and Grandparents shared their treasured poems and their stories, and the Choir lead by Andrea and Doris sang three beautiful songs.

We had shared candles which were passed amongst everyone there, and TLC volunteers lit Ceremony candles representing : - TLC, Remembrance, Courage, Hope, Memories, Love, Family and Acknowledgement.

All those that came then had the opportunity to light their own candles and place them on the memory tables amongst their keepsakes. This was a very special and meaningful time.

Sally Walker sang “ Precious Child” – Karen Taylor Goode to end the ceremony.

A get together and supper followed.
