The programs Co Founder is a qualified grief and loss bereavement counsellor - Trudi Penrose-Starr Dip. Prof. Couns. (Grief and Loss)
We provides support & understanding to bereaved parents, family & friends. To let them know they are not quite so alone by way of personal contact, email, postal & telephone contact as well as home & hospital visits. Facilitated by qualified grief and loss counsellors & trained parent support workers.
Speaking with a counsellor can assist bereaved parents, family & friends in their grief process to aid in their isolation, suffering and distress. To let them know that what they feel and experience are very normal reactions and provides the opportunity to acknowledge their baby.
We hold regular support meetings with a recovery focus for parents, families & friends to connect, share & gain support and understanding amongst others in similar situations. Facilitators having been trained in bereavement counselling. Support meetings provide an opportunity to share, connect & relate with other bereaved parents who have experienced the loss of a baby.
We provide nationwide pregnancy & infant loss support groups. Specific for mothers, family & friends and pregnancy after a loss.
The program is the original bear giving program in Australia founded in 2002. It is a special gift from one bereaved family to another, something for them to hold onto before they have to leave the hospital with such empty arms. Family's welcomed and embraced the gesture by giving bears back to other family's about to travel this journey.
The bear giving is the basis of the support program by connecting with bereaved families right at the very beginning and offering ongoing support.
The program has been operating in every state of Australia since 2004 and now offers the program in every maternity hospital of Australia.
The program is very proud to announce the arrival of the complete care package for bereaved families. The Care Package is one complete collection of crucial support resources and provided free of charge to maternity hospitals across Australia.
The resource pack is a comprehensive and informative one of its support guide for parents, families and friends. The Resource Pack is also a very personal account of other bereaved families experiences to connect and relate to.
This pack is made available free of charge to maternity hospitals across Australia. It will be given to every family who has suffered the loss of their baby with their very special TLC bear.
